Welcome to Puckhunter! We're glad you'd like to use our service. Please note that you may only use our service if you agree to the following Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We would like to briefly inform you about the rights that apply to the provision of the service for you and us. Please read these terms carefully.
The Terms of Service constitute a contract between you and Puckhunter (hereinafter also referred to as the service, application, or app). Puckhunter is an app and service offering by Benjamin Sturm (hereinafter also referred to as the provider). We reserve the right to change these terms at any time and will inform you appropriately. If you do not agree to these terms, you are unfortunately not entitled to access and use our services, content, and features. If you register for or use our service, or continue to use it after a change to the Terms of Service or Privacy Policy, we assume that you have accepted these terms and agree to be a party to this binding contract.
The subject of the contract is the free or paid use of the Puckhunter app, which can be accessed via www.puckhunter.net and its subpages, as a web application or via mobile applications (hereinafter collectively referred to as "apps").
With Puckhunter, we offer you a service with which you can log and track your ice hockey games. You can also connect with other users to see their games. For this purpose, we provide the technical requirements in the form of the application. The provider does not participate in the content of the networking and communication.
The application is made available to the user in a free basic version. In addition, we offer Puckhunter Pro, a paid subscription with extended features. The conditions for Puckhunter Pro are governed separately within these Terms of Service.
The use of certain features may require the registration of a user account by providing a username (not necessarily a real name), email address, and password. Use without a user account is not possible.
There is no entitlement to conclude a user agreement. We may reject your registration request at any time without stating reasons. In this case, we will of course delete all data you have already provided.
The use of Puckhunter is only permitted from a minimum age of 16 years. By registering, you confirm that you are at least 16 years old.
If you have the option to add images (stadium photos or profile pictures/avatars) within the app, you are obliged to ensure that you hold the exclusive rights of use for these images and that making these or other contents publicly accessible does not violate any legal provisions, public morals, and/or the rights of third parties.
We are entitled to delete or replace content created by you at any time if there are concrete indications that it violates legal provisions, public morals, and/or the rights of third parties.
Within the app, certain notification features can be disabled by you. We do not send unsolicited messages and will only contact you when important information concerning your use of the application is pending.
In principle, the app also works without an internet connection; however, an internet connection may be required for certain features.
We strive to ensure high availability and reliability of our services, but cannot rule out that outages or other technical problems may occur. The user is responsible for regular data backup of their device.
There is no entitlement to use our services. The provider may discontinue the application at any time without stating reasons or exclude the user from using the application.
The provider may change the application at any time without stating reasons, in particular with regard to any paid features.
The contract for the free use of the Puckhunter application is concluded for an indefinite period.
If you have registered within the application, you may terminate the contract at any time by selecting "Delete account" in the application within your profile settings. All your data will be deleted from our servers with immediate effect.
Important notice for Puckhunter Pro users: Deleting your user account within the app does not terminate an active Puckhunter Pro subscription. The subscription and the associated billing will continue until an active cancellation has been made through the respective app store. Further information on cancellation can be found in the Terms of Service of the app.
You may terminate the user agreement at any time by email, with appropriate proof that the account to be deleted belongs to you.
Subject to mandatory statutory provisions, the provider accepts no liability whatsoever for direct or indirect damages arising from the use of Puckhunter or in connection with the provider's services.
In the event of violations of these Terms of Service or infringements of rights and corresponding claims by third parties, the user expressly indemnifies the provider from all liability and shall be fully liable to the provider for damages.
In the following Privacy Policy, we inform you about the extent to which data is collected when using the Puckhunter app, and explain the rights you have in this context.
Personal data is information that can be traced back to a person. This includes information such as your name or email address. Data that is recorded purely quantitatively, such as the number of users per day, is not personal data.
We do not use external tracking or analytics providers. For an aggregated evaluation of app usage, we use Aptabase — a self-hosted open-source solution on our own servers in Germany (further details in the section "Usage analysis – Aptabase"). All user content, such as logged ice hockey games or uploaded images, is transmitted to the server in encrypted form and stored there linked to the user account.
When you use Puckhunter, data is loaded from our servers to keep your app up to date, such as the current news feed with games from friends or all other users, as well as the lists of stadiums & teams. For communication, an ID is generated upon installation, which is sent with every communication to our servers.
In order to be able to deliver the appropriate data to the correct device, the following additional data is stored in this context:
With a user account, you have the option to use certain features, such as logging games and viewing the overview of games logged by you and other users. The following information is required and stored on our servers for this purpose:
The legal basis for the processing of this data is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract).
Your user account is automatically assigned an ID, and the device with which you log in or register is linked to this user account. We place great value on data protection and have endeavoured to collect only the minimum data necessary to ensure use of the service. Upon creation of a user account, your logged games are transmitted to the server. When you log a game, the check-in appears together with your username in the public news feed. Transmission to our servers is also required if you wish to synchronise multiple devices. Other users have the option to view your logged games within the app.
No individual analysis or evaluation of logged games takes place. We reserve the right to view this data in individual cases for error analysis and to use it for quantitative evaluations. Should you contact us via the feedback form in the app, your username and email address will additionally be stored alongside your message.
In the Puckhunter app, your location is used for the following features:
If you have granted the app access to your location, the location is processed on your device and transmitted to the server to calculate results. The location is neither stored on your device nor on the server.
In order for you to use all features of the Puckhunter app, the app must be able to access various features and data on your device. For this, it is technically necessary that you grant the app certain access permissions. If you do not wish to grant certain permissions, you will not be able to use some features of the app. Below we inform you about which permissions the Puckhunter app requires and what they are used for:
Push notifications are sent via Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) of Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. For this purpose, a device token is transmitted to and stored by Google. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in providing notifications). The use of push notifications can be deactivated at any time in the device settings.
If you have activated the newsletter in the app settings, your name and email address will be transmitted to Brevo GmbH, Stralauer Allee 2, 10245 Berlin, Germany, for the purpose of sending the newsletter. The transmission is carried out exclusively on the basis of your explicit consent in accordance with Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via your app settings. Brevo's privacy policy can be found at: https://www.brevo.com/de/legal/privacypolicy/.
For the management of Puckhunter Pro subscriptions, we use RevenueCat. RevenueCat processes purchase-related data such as transaction IDs, subscription status, and anonymised device identifiers, which are necessary for the technical validation of purchases and the provision of Puckhunter Pro. The provider is RevenueCat, Inc., USA. The transfer of data to the USA is carried out on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) and on the basis of standard contractual clauses pursuant to Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR. RevenueCat's privacy policy can be found at: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy/.
For in-app purchases via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, the respective platform operators process payment data on their own responsibility. The privacy policies of Apple Inc. (https://www.apple.com/de/privacy/) and Google LLC (https://policies.google.com/privacy) apply accordingly.
To improve the app, we use Aptabase, a self-hosted open-source software for aggregated app usage statistics, operated on our own server in Germany. Only anonymised events are recorded (e.g. which screens are accessed). No personal data is processed and no individual user profiles are created. The data remains entirely on our own servers in Germany. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the analysis and improvement of the service).
To ensure stable operation, we use GlitchTip, a self-hosted open-source software for error monitoring, operated on our own server in Germany. In the event of technical errors, data such as error messages, stack traces, browser information, and accessed URLs are transmitted to our server. If logged in, internal user IDs may also be processed. The data remains on our own servers in Germany. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a technically stable service).
The information you provide is transmitted in encrypted form to prevent misuse of the data by third parties. All collected data is stored on servers in Germany and is subject to German data protection law.
We store your data for as long as this is necessary to provide our offering and the associated services, or as long as we have a legitimate interest in continued storage. In all other cases, we delete your personal data with the exception of data that we are required to continue retaining to comply with statutory (e.g. tax or commercial law) retention obligations (e.g. invoices).
You have the following rights with regard to your personal data:
For data protection enquiries, we are available at post@puckhunter.net.
Right to lodge a complaint (Art. 77 GDPR): You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority regarding the processing of your personal data. The competent supervisory authority is:

The place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from and in connection with these Terms of Service is, to the extent permitted by law, Horgenzell (Baden-Württemberg), Germany.
